Rega Planar 1 - Top Features

Updated design features Rega's EBLT belt found in their higher-end Planar 6 model. This belt offers greater accuracy and improved speed performance.

The new RB110 tonearm is complete with high precision bearings, a new 111g ‘Plug & Play’ balance weight and automatic bias adjustment, reducing friction and ensuring the tonearm is set and ready to use when you first get it out of the box, no balancing the counterweight or anti-skate.

The Planar 1 also boasts Rega’s Carbon Cartridge as standard and a re-designed headshell which is both stiffer & more ergonomic for improved styling and function. 

Rega Planar 1 - What We Love

The Planar 1 is belt driven and easily handles both 33rpm and 45rpm play speeds. Set up is easy and the finished product offers clean, detailed audio with all the crackle and nostalgia we love about vinyl.

The Planar 1 also offers a 24v, very low noise, synchronous AC motor which reduces the transfer of vibrations and, combined with an aluminium pulley, it offers better speed stability.

Rega Planar 1 - Design

You can see the expert craftsmanship that shines through Rega’s legacy as a turntable specialist.

The thermoset plinth is understated but stylish, available in the new matt black or matt white finish. Rega have removed the ‘fuss’, with just the platter and tonearm visible on the plinth. The power switch is also neatly hidden on the back of the plinth. 

The 23mm, higher mass, phenolic platter has an improved flywheel effect which improves speed stability, minimises friction and ensures that the audio is true to the artist’s intention.

Specially designed feet increase stability to reduce vibration transfer. A dust cover is included, featuring an intuitive hinged design to make it unobtrusive but protective.

Behringer PP400 Pre-Amp

Behringer is a well known name in the industry for quality and build, with this PP400 Phono Pre-amp being no exception.

If using an amp or speaker set-up that doesn’t have the phono stage in built, the PP400 will convert your analogue phono signal to a line-level signal allowing this to be read and played on your Hi-Fi equipment.

This state-of-the-art phono preamp will accommodate magnetic pickups and its ultra low-noise audio operational amplifiers offer outstanding sound performance. A DC-12 volt adaptor is included in the box.

How It Works

We love the Planar 1 for it’s easy set up and cool design. This bundle with all cables and pre-amp included truly offers a plug and play experience, allowing you to get the most out of your vinyl collection straight out of the box.

The Planar 1 just needs to be connected to the pre-amp. You can then use the cables in the box to connect the pre-amp to your chosen speaker or Amp and separates. 

Cabling

The Planar 1 and pre-amp bundle comes equipped with not only a Behringer pre-amp, but also all the cables you’ll need to set this up. We’ve broken down the three cables included in the box and what they’ll be used for, so you can see exactly how the Planar 1 and pre-amp will fit into your existing set-up.

• 2x Phono-Phono cables - These two cables might be all you need to get your system up and running. The first Phono cable will connect your Planar 1 to the Behringer Pre-amp. You can then use the second Phono cable to connect into an Amp or Speaker that supports RCA connection.
• 1x Phono-3.5mm jack cable - To be used with a speaker that supports a 3.5mm jack connection, such as an active speaker like the Sonos Five.
