12 'phantom' speaker channels

360° Spatial Sound Mapping Technology

Each containing a 19mm front-facing tweeter and full range X-Balanced driver, the four satellite speakers will bounce sound off the ceiling to create a 360° soundstage that’s the equivalent of using 12 surround sound speakers in total.

Dual microphones housed in each of the four satellite speakers to measure their precise height and position in the room, meaning you won’t need to worry about exactly spacing your speakers equally around your seating area. The HT-A9 will be able to calibrate and adjust the sound performance to make for an immersive surround sound experience no matter whether your speakers are positioned at the same height or distance away from each other.

HDMI eARC

Easy Connection to your TV

You’ll be pleased to know that the 4 satellite speakers making up the HT-A9 system connect wirelessly, meaning you won’t need to run cabling between each speaker to get them to work. Each speaker will just require a power connection.

The centre of the system, Sony’s control hub, has a built-in eARC output and HDMI pass-through supporting 4K@60fps and HDR Dolby Vision, HLG & HDR10. One simple connection between the Hub and TV is all that’s required to get the system working.

Bravia XR

Customers owning compatible Sony Bravia XR Screens* are able to connect the HT-A9’s connection hub via the included minijack lead. This will take advantage of Sony’s Acoustic Centre Sync function to not only make use of the HT-A9’s four satellite speakers but will also integrate the TV’s inbuilt speakers into the system.

Other Bravia TVs** will benefit from Sony’s integrated on-screen setup process and options menu when first using the Sony HT-A9, making set up even more streamlined.

Perfect for the modern home

Understated Design

One thing separating the Sony HT-A9 from surround systems of the past is just how understated and minimal its design is. Gone are the days of trailing wires and big speaker cabinets, with the HT-A9s four wireless satellite speakers sporting a matte, perforated grille and flattened rear panel making it easy to position the speakers flush to a wall or cabinet. A concealed hook is built into the back of each speaker unit to make it easy to fit these to a wall if needed.

Each speaker in the system is labelled indicatively to show you whereabouts they need to be positioned: front left, front right, rear left or rear right.
