The New LG QNED Lineup at a Glance

QNED has been a mainstay in LG's TV lineup for a while now, but one big change in 2025 sees the introduction of a premium sub-category: QNED Evo. We have three QNED Evo models to explore alongside two standard QNEDs:

QNED93 (or QNED92 depending on region) – The flagship 4K QNED evo model with Dynamic QNED Colour Pro and mini-LED backlighting.

QNED9M – A wireless QNED evo model featuring LG’s Zero Connect box.

QNED85, QNED86 & QNED87 – mid-range QNED evo options available in a huge range of sizes, up to 100-inches.

QNED80, QNED 82 & QNED84 – Budget-friendly and versatile QNED options.

Now, let’s take a closer look at what each model offers:

LG QNED93 / QNED92: The Flagship One

LG QNED92 TV at CES

At the top of the range is the QNED93, LG’s flagship 4K QNED Evo model. If vibrant colours and incredible contrast are what you’re after, this is the TV to beat. Here’s what sets it apart:

  • Dynamic QNED Colour Pro: Ensures ultra-accurate colour reproduction for lifelike visuals.
  • Mini-LED Backlighting: Offers outstanding brightness and contrast by utilising thousands of tiny LEDs for precise lighting control.
  • Processor: Equipped with LG’s Alpha A8 AI Gen2 processor, the same one found in LG’s B-series OLED TVs.
  • Screen Sizes: Available in 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch options.

The combination of these features means the QNED93 is perfect for film enthusiasts and gamers who want impeccable visuals.

*Don’t ask us why, but LG have decided to call their flagship QNED TV the 'QNED93' here in the UK and the 'QNED92' in most other places. Same TV though, so everything we’re saying here counts for both.

LG QNED9M: The Wireless One

If you hate dealing with cables, the QNED9M could be just what you’re looking for. This TV takes convenience to the next level with LG’s Zero Connect box, which lets you stream 4K video wirelessly at an impressive 144Hz.

  • Processor: Equipped with LG’s powerful a9 AI processor, the same one featured in last-years award-winning C4 OLED range.
  • Screen Sizes: Available in 65-, 75- and 86-inch options, perfect for cinematic viewing
  • NanoCell Backlight: Utilises NanoCell technology to improve colour accuracy and enhance brightness, delivering superior picture quality.
  • Standout Feature: The wireless connectivity ensures a clean, clutter-free setup, making it ideal for wall-mounted or minimalist home designs.

While it’s still too early to tell if this technology will catch on, it’s an impressive leap forward that we've been impressed by when we've seen it in action. These kind of premium features don’t come cheap, with RRP's ranging from £1,699 to £3,499 but it’s definitely a positive step towards a cleaner, cable-free future.

LG QNED87: The Premium One

The QNED87 shares most of the same spec as the QNED85 and QNED86 mentioned below including Mini LED backlightingAlpha 8 Gen 2 processor, and all the gaming-ready features you’d expect from a QNED evo model.

Where it stands out is in its design. It features LG’s ultra-thin "airslim" design, giving it a more premium, minimalist look than the QNED85 and QNED86.

Unlike the 85 and 86, the QNED87 tops out at 75 inches, with options as small as 43 and 50 inches making it a strong choice if you want Mini LED performance in a smaller room or stylish setup.

LG QNED85 & QNED86: The Big Ones

LG QNED85 at CES

The QNED85 and QNED86 are the first models in LG’s QNED evo range, but they're still a noticeable step up from the more basic QNED models.

Both TVs use Mini LED backlighting with Advanced Local Dimming Pro, for greater contrast precision, improved peak brightness, and better black levels compared to standard edge-lit designs. This means a clearer, more dynamic picture whether you’re watching movies, sports, or HDR content.

They both use the Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen 2, unlocking advanced features like AI Picture ProAI Sound Pro, and enhanced motion smoothing. Combined with a 120Hz panel and support for up to 144Hz VRR on some sizes, these models are a great fit for both casual and competitive gamers.

Where the two differ is mainly in design:

  • QNED85 features two feet positioned at either end of the screen.

  • QNED86 swaps those out for a central pedestal stand, which may work better for smaller TV units or soundbar setups.

If you’re looking for size variety, both models are available in 55-, 65-, 75-, and 86-inch options. A 100-inch version exists of both models but the QNED85 is US only, while the QNED 86 is the 100-inch version available in the UK.

LG QNED80, LG QNED82 & LG QNED80: The Entry-Level Ones

LG QNED82 TV on show at CES

The QNED80 is where LG’s QNED lineup starts in 2025, offering a step up from standard LED and NanoCell TVs without breaking the bank. It’s powered by LG’s Alpha 7 AI Processor Gen 8, which delivers reliable performance for everyday content, with solid image upscaling and AI-enhanced sound.

This model uses an edge-lit LED panel with local dimming, meaning the LEDs are positioned around the edge of the screen rather than behind it. It’s not going to match the contrast of a Mini LED or OLED display, but for casual viewing and catch-up TV, it’s a solid option.

The QNED80 is also limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, which is fine for most content but won’t be the best match for fast-paced gaming or high-frame-rate video. It’s available in a wide range of screen sizes from 43" to 86", giving buyers plenty of flexibility depending on their space and budget.

Now, what about the QNED82 and QNED84?

These two models are essentially the same TV as the QNED80 when it comes to core spec. You’ll get the same Alpha 7 Gen 8 chip, the same edge-lit backlighting, and the same 60Hz panel.

The only differences are cosmetic:

  • The QNED82 comes in Dark Titan Silver with an Ashed Blue frame for a more modern look.

  • The QNED84 uses a Charcoal Black frame and stand for a more understated finish.

On larger sizes, the QNED84 also features slightly raised feet that allow more clearance for a soundbar, which might make setup easier depending on your furniture.

For those on a budget, the QNED84, QNED82 and QNED80 are deliver a solid level of performance at a more affordable price, making them a great choice for casual viewing or secondary spaces in the home.

Which LG QNED TV Should You Choose?

Choosing the right LG QNED TV depends on your specific needs. It’s still early days for LG’s 2025 QNED lineup, but based on what we experienced at CES 2025, we’re excited about what’s to come. Broadly speaking, here’s what we’d recommend:

  • For Premium Performance: The QNED92/QNED93 is the top choice, with mini-LED backlighting and superior colour accuracy.
  • For Clutter Free Aesthetics: The QNED9M offers LG’s Zero Connect box for a clean and hassle-free setup.
  • For Large Screens on a Budget: The QNED85 and QNED86 deliver a massive 100-inch option at a what should be a more accessible price point.
  • For Everyday Viewing: The QNED84, QNED82 and QNED80 are great value options that don’t compromise too much on performance.
