Our Favourite TVs for Sports fans in 2025:
When it comes to watching live sport, not all TVs were made even. Fast movement, bright stadium lights and reflections from the room can all ruin the experience. The good news is that the latest 2025 models are better than ever at handling the things that matter most for sports fans.
The best TVs for sport combine smooth motion, good brightness and solid reflection handling so you can enjoy the match without distractions. Some even make group viewing easier with ultra-wide viewing angles for stunning picture, no matter where you’re sitting.
We’ve tested plenty of TVs this year and picked out the 6 models that really stand out for sports. Whether you’re after a premium OLED, a super-bright Mini LED or something that’s easier on the budget, there’s an option here that will make game day look and feel better. Here are our favourites...

Pick One: Sony Bravia 9

Recommended For: Sports fans who watch in bright rooms and want a premium alternative to OLED with natural colour and smooth performance.
The first pick on this list may have debuted in 2024, but the fact that the Sony Bravia 9 still leads Sony’s 2025 TV lineup speaks volumes about its performance.
While OLEDs typically have the edge when it comes to motion, that doesn’t mean a well-designed Mini LED like this can’t hold its own. The Bravia 9 offers excellent brightness, which is exactly what you want for sports that are often watched in the middle of the day. Even in bright living rooms where other screens, particularly OLEDs, can start to wash out, this one continues to excel.
Reflection handling is equally impressive. In our testing, glare reflection was minimal, so you can stay focused on the action whether it’s a nail-biting rally at Wimbledon or a crucial putt at The British Open.
Sony's superior processing also stood out. The Bravia 9 does a great job of cleaning up and sharpening lower-quality broadcasts, so even standard Freeview and streamed matches looked smooth and easy to follow.
And then there’s the colour. Sony's known for its natural, lifelike images and this model lives up to that. From the greens of the pitch to the colours on team kits, everything looked accurate and vibrant right out of the box without the need for any tweaking.
The only things worth noting are that the viewing angles, while good, aren’t the best we’ve tested. Plus, as a flagship model it’s still on the pricier side, even though it’s been around since 2024. That said, if you want a TV that looks fantastic straight out of the box and is a pleasure to watch from day one, the Bravia 9 is an easy recommendation.

Pick Two: LG G5

Recommended For: Sports fans who want the brightest, most advanced OLED experience available right now.
The LG G5 is one of the highlights of LG's 2025 TV lineup and a clear step forward for the brand’s OLED technology. Aside from the 48- and 97-inch versions, it’s the first model from LG to feature the new Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel, which uses a redesigned "four-stack" structure to push brightness further than any LG OLED before it. For sports, this means the images remain vibrant without sacrificing the deep blacks and fine detail OLED is known for.
From our time with the G5, it impressed across all types of content, but sports in particular really benefits from the extra punch and clarity. For us, It’s a clear step up from the previous generation, offering that extra bit of refinement that makes live matches and big events look their best.
The Gallery Series design is another strong point. It’s slim, premium, and made to sit flush against the wall, although stand-mounted versions are available too and look just as good.
Sound is solid for a TV, with Dolby Atmos support, but like many high-end screens, it deserves a good soundbar or speaker setup to match the quality of its picture.
Sure, It’s not the cheapest option out there, but if you want a top-tier OLED that delivers across the board, the G5 is hard to beat.

Pick Three: Samsung S90F

Recommended For: Sports lovers who want exceptional picture and high-end features without spending flagship money.
The Samsung S90F earns its place on this list because it manages to bring much of the flagship S95F experience at a lower price point. For watching sport, that’s a big deal. You get a TV that stays bright enough for daytime viewing, produces rich, accurate colours, and keeps up with fast-paced action effortlessly.
Our testing showed the QD-OLED panel (on the sizes that use it) really shines during live matches. Colours have a real punch, making team kits and contrast remain strong even during tricky night games. It doesn’t have the advanced anti-reflection layer from the S95F, and therefore can lose some depth in harsh direct light, but in most rooms the picture looks absolutely superb.
Motion handling is another strength. Football, tennis, and other fast-moving sports looked smooth and sharp, with no distracting blur. The wide viewing angles also mean friends and family can spread out around the room without anyone feeling like they’ve got the “bad” seat.
Samsung has packed in great connectivity too. The S90F supports 4K at 144Hz and variable refresh rates across all four HDMI 2.1 ports, so it’s perfect if you also use it for gaming. The input response is lightning-fast, which only adds to how responsive and fluid sports feel on screen.
For anyone wanting a TV that handles sports with ease, offers excellent value, and still feels premium, the Samsung S90F is an outstanding choice in 2025.

Pick Four: LG QNED85 / LG QNED86

Recommended For: Fans who want to go big!
The LG QNED85 and QNED86 are the first models in LG’s QNED evo range, and while they don’t quite match the OLEDs for picture quality, they’re our top choice if you want the biggest screen possible at a relatively reasonable price.
Starting at 55 inches and going up to an enormous 100-inch option, they deliver a truly immersive experience that makes you feel closer to the action than ever in your own living room.
With Mini LED backlighting and Advanced Local Dimming Pro, these TVs offer strong brightness, better black levels, and improved contrast compared to standard LED models. The Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen 2 enhances picture and sound, while the 120Hz panel (with 144Hz with VRR on some sizes) keeps motion smooth and detailed.
Design is the only real difference between the two with the QNED85 featuring feet at each end, while the QNED86 opts for a central pedestal that works well with smaller units or soundbars.
For those who want a big, bright TV that feels premium without stretching into OLED territory, the QNED85 and QNED86 are excellent options.

Pick Five: LG C5

Recommended For: Those looking for the perfect all-rounder.
Sticking with the theme of excellent mid-range options, the LG C5 is another standout this year for those who want the benefits of OLED without paying top-end prices. It skips the new Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel found in the flagship LG G5, but still delivers excellent OLED performance that makes live sport look brilliant.
For sports, the C5 has everything you’d expect from a quality OLED: deep blacks, strong contrast, and smooth motion that keeps up with the pace of whatever you're watching. While it doesn’t get as bright as the G5 or Samsung’s S95F, when you’re watching sports in a normal, daylight-filled living room, it still delivers a bright performance.
Overall, the LG C5 is the kind of OLED that suits a lot of sports fans. It offers premium picture quality, great motion handling, and an accessible price point, making it one of the best all-round picks for enjoying everything from the Champions League to the Six Nations.

Pick Six: Samsung QN73F

Recommended For: Those who want impressive performance at a sensible price point.
The Samsung QN73F is a bit of a dark horse in our opinion. It’s not the model that grabs all the headlines, but having spent some time with it, we've been very impressed by how much it actually delivers for the money.
Powered by the upgraded NQ4 AI Gen2 processor and boasting Samsung's Quantum Matrix Technology Slim, which uses Mini LEDs concentrated along the lower edge of the panel, the QN73F takes a clear step up from the older QN70D.
The result is better brightness, improved contrast, and more precise dimming control, all of which make a real difference when watching sports, particularly during the daytime and in brighter rooms.
As far as a more affordable TV goes, we’ve been impressed by the motion on this one. It’s the first model in Samsung’s lineup to offer support up to 144Hz, which might seem unnecessary for sports since most UK broadcasts sit around 50–60Hz.
However, that extra headroom helps the TV keep motion consistently smooth, even during fast-paced action. Paired with its solid upscaling ability, it makes standard HD feeds look clean and sharp, making this a really solid option for casual sports viewers who aren't fussed about premium tech.
Design-wise, it’s actually slimmer than its predecessor and looks great wall-mounted, giving you a more premium feel without a premium cost. Viewing angles are fine for most setups, although they’re not as wide as Samsung’s higher-end models which is something to bear in mind.
For us, the QN73F offers a lot for its price point. With strong brightness, better control over contrast, and smooth motion, it’s an a solid choice for anyone who wants a well-rounded sports TV that won't stretch the budget too much.
