Though the HT-X8500 doesn’t feature the upward firing drivers we might expect from an Atmos ready soundbar, Sony uses DSP audio processing software to create a more 3D soundstage for a better surround sound experience. Imagine a helicopter flying overhead or car rushing from left to right across the screen, the HT-X8500’s Dolby Atmos soundstage will give you an immersive, directional sound that takes you to the heart of the action.

Two left and right drivers will perfectly handle treble-midrange, with the two woofers deepening your bass and lower frequency output for all the bangs and crashes of your favourite movies. You can also choose from different preset modes on the HT-X8500 to give you the best sound output for different viewing experiences such as Cinema, Games, Music and Sport.

Immersive Surround Sound Audio

The HT-X8500 is the perfect choice for those seeking great surround sound. It offers a powerful built-in dual subwoofer in the centre for deep bass which eliminates the need for a separate subwoofer. This, combined with audio presets designed to compensate for a lack of rear speakers, helps you achieve a powerful, multi-directional Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound experience without multiple pieces of equipment or trailing wires.  

The HT-X8500 enables you to hear sound from every direction by simulating 7.1.2 surround sound. S-Force Pro Front Surround virtually reproduces the surround sound field to make audio feel like it’s coming at you from both sides, rather than just from the front.This allows you to use the soundbar without rear speakers for a more stream-lined home set-up. Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine allows the HT-X8500 to position sound in a vertical space, giving you 3D audio without upfiring drivers. 

Hassle-Free Connectivity

As any versatile home speaker should, the HT-X8500 will handle your music needs as well as any home cinema viewing. Built-in Bluetooth connectivity will allow you to easily connect your phone, tablet or PC to your soundbar and play any streaming service, stored music or online content on the HT-X8500.

The HT-X8500 gives you the option to connect to your TV via either Optical or HDMI eARC/ARC. We suggest using either ARC or eARC for the passthrough of Dolby Atmos content.

You’re also given use of a HDMI in, meaning an external source such as a set-top box, games console or Blu-Ray player can be connected straight into the soundbar if HDMI inputs on your TV are at a premium. This soundbar is also made for the latest home cinema formats such as HDR 10, Dolby Vision and HLG with the latest 4K HDR 18Gbps pass through.
