Audio Pro W-Generation Speakers Launch with New WiiM Powered App

IFA Berlin 2025 delivered plenty of big tech stories, but one of the most exciting for music lovers came from Scandinavian brand Audio Pro.

Known for their sleek design and rich sound, Audio Pro has just unveiled the new W-Generation, its biggest shake-up in years.

The refresh is more than just a style update. Every model has been re-tuned for improved performance, the design has been subtly refined, and, most importantly, the entire range now runs on the Audio Pro W app which is powered by WiiM’s very impressive platform.

That means smarter controls, wider streaming support, and smoother multi-room playback, all while keeping the trademark Audio Pro sound. Here's everything we know so far...

Audio Pro W-Generation: Lineup at a Glance

The range includes 10 refreshed models, spanning compact wireless units through to floorstanders and Drumfire systems:

  • C10 MkII W – £350 / €400
  • C20 W – £450 / €550

The W-Generation launched globally on 5 September 2025, with US pricing to follow in October.

The Big Move: From LinkPlay to WiiM

The headline change in Audio Pro’s new W-Generation is the move away from the older Linkplay app to the new Audio Pro W app powered by WiiM.

Having tested multiple WiiM products like the WiiM Pro Plus, WiiM Ultra and WiiM Amp ourselves, we’ve been consistently impressed with how intuitive the app is, how wide the streaming support goes, and how smoothly it handles multi-room playback. Bringing that same experience to Audio Pro’s range feels like a natural fit.

For listeners, this means smarter controls, advanced EQ and room correction, and broader compatibility with the services you actually use, like Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer. Multi-room performance should also feel tighter, with improved Wi-Fi timing to keep everything perfectly in sync.

Existing Audio Pro owners can rest easy too. The new app is backward-compatible, so new speakers will integrate seamlessly with current models too.

💭 SHS Take: We’ve really enjoyed WiiM’s app experience in our own testing, so seeing it paired with Audio Pro’s distinctive sound is exciting. It feels like a smart move that positions Audio Pro strongly in the multi-room space, giving listeners more choice alongside the likes of Sonos.

Sound Quality: Refined and Re-Tuned

Audio Pro hasn’t just updated the app. The W-Generation has also been re-tuned to deliver what the brand describes as a “more musical” sound across the range.

According to reports, engineers have focused on clarity, lower distortion and extra output, so whether you’re listening to a compact bookshelf speaker or a pair of floorstanders, you should hear a step up in detail and dynamics.

We’ve always found Audio Pro’s sound signature to be engaging and room-filling despite their compact designs. If this refresh brings cleaner highs, stronger bass and higher output, the W-Generation could be their most convincing line-up yet.

Design: Familiar, but More Polished

The thing we love about this update is that the W-Generation doesn’t rip up the rulebook on looks.

Audio Pro has kept the minimalist Scandinavian styling it’s known for, but there are some thoughtful refinements. Button layouts, logos and grille fabrics have been unified across the range, giving the speakers a more cohesive feel.

We also expect the same connectivity options to carry over from the previous models, so usability should feel instantly familiar.

As for finishes, there are now more choices to suit different spaces. Grey, black and white are available across the line-up, while models like the A28 W add a walnut option for those who prefer something a little more traditional.

Audio Pro W-Generation: Our Verdict

The move to WiiM could prove to be a real turning point for Audio Pro. It modernises the app experience, unlocks broader streaming support and strengthens its position in the multi-room speaker market.

Combined with subtle design updates and the improvements to sound, the W-Generation looks like a strong step forward. For UK listeners considering alternatives to Sonos, this refresh makes Audio Pro’s range more compelling than ever.

We’ll be testing the new models as soon as we can on our YouTube channel, so keep an eye out for our hands-on reviews and recommendations here at Smart Home Sounds.
