With an open-ear style, the Sony LinkBuds give you the peace of mind of being connected to the outside world whilst still enjoying your favourite music, podcasts and other content through your headphones. The circular doughnut shape allows outside sounds to travel through the earbud, with the main driver case resting unobtrusively on the outer portion of your ear.

Voice Call Capability

Perfect for the office, the Sony LinkBuds excel with Precise Voice Pickup for voice calls and online conference calls by offering crystal clear vocals whilst keeping you in tune with your outside surroundings. The LinkBuds have also been optimised for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant use.

Branching off from this, the LinkBuds are also capable of tuning in to when you’re having a conversation in the real world using Adaptive Sound Control. When you begin talking with someone around you, the Sony LinkBuds will automatically pause the music to allow you to focus on what’s being said, and then restart the music when you’re done.

12mm Drivers

Driver Design

Sony have employed their Integrated Processor V1 to reproduce every detail of your music in a rich, well-balanced sound whilst using DSEE technology to optimise and restore compressed files to make them closer to the original recording quality.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that due to their small form factor the LinkBuds would have small and less impactful internal drivers. Sony has still managed to house a 12mm earphone driver in each earbud, so you won’t have to compromise on audio quality for the LinkBud’s innovative design.

Comfortable Fit

Lauded to be the headphones that you can wear all the time, Sony have worked hard to design the LinkBuds to make them as comfortable as possible for extended wear. Unlike traditional wireless earbuds, the ear canal remains unobstructed by the LinkBuds to not only keep you in tune with your surroundings, but remove that uncomfortable feeling of fullness that often has us reaching to take our headphones out after a couple of hours. The main body of the driver rests on the outer edge of your ear, with a clever rubber fin stabilising the earbud to stay put for hours at a time.

For the fitness focussed among us, the LinkBuds are also IPX4 rated meaning that sweat or splashes won’t damage the headphones. In a solid white or dark grey design, the Sony LinkBuds are sure to appeal to most users.

Smart Technology

Microsoft Soundscape, Spotify and Niantic integration

Excitingly, Sony has paired up with Spotify in the development of the LinkBuds to combat a problem that’s proved a consistent issue across the wireless earbud market. With Linkbuds, you’ll be able to tap your cheek, yes cheek, to control the music or even double-tap it to get Spotify to start playing a recommended track it thinks you’ll like.

Sony has also partnered with Microsoft Soundscape to offer a more realistic, 3D soundstage along with gaming giant Niantic, the brains behind Pokemon Go, to improve the link between online and offline listening for a more seamless experience.

17.5 Hour Battery Life

Offering a solid 5.5 hour battery life from the earbuds alone, the Sony LinkBuds easily compare with wireless earbud competitors on this front. This battery life is extended to a total of 17.5 hours when you factor in the additional 12 hours of recharge time stored in the LinkBud carry case.

We particularly like the inbuilt Quick Charge feature that gleans an additional 90 minutes of battery life from just a 10 minute charge. This is perfect for quickly boosting the battery life of your LinkBuds for a morning run or your commute home.
