The first product Ruark launched, the R1 Radio is a well-loved staple in the brand’s lineup. 

Now in its fourth iteration, this radio offers a brilliant blend of progressive design and performance. Offering impressive power for its compact size, the R1 is the perfect companion for those looking for a bedside, living room or study.

A new standard of sound performance

The R1 models have been critically acclaimed for their sound performance but the R1 MK4 is another step up. Boasting the brand’s latest neodymium NS+ driver also found in the R3 and R5 models, this speaker offers a smooth and extended frequency response. Combined with the tuned enclosure, the R1 can deliver an impressive bass performance for its small size. 

A punchy Class A/B linear amplifier powers the system while adaptive equalisation ensures an listenable sound can be enjoyed at any volume level.

Adjustable bass and treble settings ensure you can find a performance that suits your personal preferences.

Sophisticated design

Available in both Light Cream and Espresso finishes, the R1 has an acoustically tuned and damped polymer cabinet which is both sturdy and acoustically inert. 

The hand-crafted slatted wood grille gives a sophisticated and timeless flair while remaining distinctly Ruark and eye-catchingly unique.

A high contrast OLED display shows information including time, alarms and programmes and also automatically adjusts to suit the ambient light levels in your space. As there is also a real time clock built in, time and date remain active even when power is disconnected or transmitted data isn’t available. 

Versatile control & playback

With support for DAB and DAB+, you can access high quality digital audio and exclusive stations. The radio automatically finds available stations and you can then select your chosen one easily by name. Alternatively, FM frequency provides stations that are yet to go digital as well as multiregional FM stations. Use presets to store your favourite stations for quick access - 8 per band.

The R1 can also connect to your smart device wirelessly with Bluetooth or you can use the USB port to play your music from a USB device. The radio can even be used as a charging port for your devices when you’re in a pinch. Of course, you can always opt to keep things traditional and connect via the aux port and if you’re looking for a more personal listening session then you can connect up a pair of wired headphones.

A handy addition is the Ruark compact remote which boasts 4 direct pre-set buttons to give you quick access for your favourite stations and playlists.

Optional BackPack 3 for Audio On The Go

Add the Ruark BackPack 3 to take your R1, R1S or MR1 on the go, whether it’s out in the garden, at the beach or where your mains power can’t reach. Once fitted, the BackPack 3 can be left permanently in place, charging automatically when reconnected to main power. 

When not connected to mains power, the radio will go into an ultra low power mode to conserve energy and a full charge will offer up to 12 hours of playback (volume depending).
