Big news! We’ve just launched our all-new Smart Home Sounds Gaming section. We’re always excited whenever we’re able to expand our product range, and are keen to get stuck into the world of gaming to help our customers pick the right console, accessory or game for them. From speakers to TVs and now to gaming, we want to help you create the ultimate home setups for great entertainment.

Our background in the Audio-Visual sphere makes us well placed to help out if you have any questions about setting your games console up with existing equipment. How Do I navigate the Gaming section? 

You might have noticed the ‘Gaming’ tab at the top of our page, but what should you do when you’re there? The first consideration for most customers will be what console they’re shopping for, or what accessories or games they want to go with it. 

In our office, we’re made up of both avid gamers and complete novices, so we’ve compiled our expertise below to help you best navigate our new Gaming products, especially if you’re new to gaming or looking to buy a gift for a family member or friend.

This is our top pick for younger children and teens, or as a great option for the whole family. Though you will see some cross-platform games that are geared towards older teens or adults, such as Mortal Kombat 11, the Nintendo Switch is arguably best known for its multi-player, family classics such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing New Horizons and Super Mario Party to name but a few.

There are two consoles in the Switch range with two major differences. The Nintendo Switch Lite does not have detachable Joy-Con controllers, so cannot be played with a friend or family member unless you purchase Joy-Cons separately. The original Nintendo Switch has Joy-Con controllers built-in, making multi-player gaming easy from the get-go and with the added bonus of being compatible with a TV.  

Nintendo has recently announced the Nintendo Switch OLED, perfect for avid gamers who want to experience their favourite titles on a larger 7" screen in full OLED quality.

SHOP NINTENDO SWITCH

Playstation 4, the predecessor to the newly released Playstation 5, still offers a lot for any prospective gamers. Full HD technology makes for a great picture and the majority of today’s top titles are still released with Playstation 4 compatibility. If you’re looking to enjoy console gaming without the price tag associated with next-gen options, the Playstation 4 could be for you. Enjoy top games including Crash Bandicoot It's About Time, Resident Evil Village and Madden NFL 22.

What We Love: The PS4's still got it, with new and in-demand titles along with Full HD image quality

SHOP PLAYSTATION 4

Part of Microsoft’s third generation of consoles, the Xbox One still offers a lot to gamers meaning we were sure to stock compatible games and accessory options. From the hotly anticipated FIFA 22 to Wild West adventure Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll find something for everyone on the Xbox One. 

Many of our Xbox One games are also forward compatible with the new Xbox Series X console, a great feature for Xbox fans who are thinking about updating their console in the future.

What We Love: Still a great option, and we think cross-compatibility with Series X on a variety of games is a nice touch

You’ve probably heard some of the hype around this one. Packed with next-gen features, the brand new Playstation 5 offers gamers their most realistic ever gameplay experience from a Sony console with 4K/120 Gameplay and revolutionary new controller haptics. If you want the latest and greatest, the PS5 is the way to go with a smorgasbord of brand new games released and ready to play. Many new releases, such as the new FIFA 22 and upcoming Call of Duty Vanguard, have been specially engineered for this new generation of consoles, so you know you’re getting the latest and greatest gameplay experience.

What We Love: One of the most hotly anticipated console releases of all time, the PS5 boasts next-gen features and branches into 4K gaming

SHOP PLAYSTATION 5

The other big next-gen console release in the last year or so. The fastest, most powerful Xbox ever, the Series X, offers true 4K gaming up to 120 frames per second as well as reduced loading times and faster gameplay courtesy of its 12 teraflops of processing power. The Xbox Series S is a more compact, fully-digital version of the Series X that does away with the disc drive in favour of 512GB of digital game storage. Be aware that the Series S doesn’t support native 4k gaming. 

Again, any hot release or new game coming up for the foreseeable future will be geared towards the Series X as a next-gen console, with old favourites such as Black Ops Cold War remastered for your enjoyment.

Using the options on the left-hand side of the Games or Best-Seller section will allow you to refine by age rating or game genre, helping you close in on the right title for you or your loved one.

How do I access the best deals?

Our ‘Console and Bundles’ sections along with ‘Pre-order’ options help you get the best deal on new products along with bundle discounts on some of our best selling consoles, accessories and games. We also offer a Loyalty scheme for returning customers.
