AUDIOQUEST FOREST DIGITAL COAXIAL AUDIO CABLE

AudioQuest Digital Coax cables are meticulously engineered to reduce distortion across a broad bandwidth range. While speed is often associated with the swift transfer of large files or the transmission of data for HD video in various applications, it holds particular significance in the realm of Digital Coax audio. However, the concept of speed in this context is not solely about quantity or velocity, but rather the precise time relationships within the digital stream. These time relationships play a critical role in the accurate reconstruction of the analog waveform, which is responsible for delivering information, music, and the joy that resonates in our ears. The emphasis on speed in Digital Coax audio stems from its indispensable contribution to the faithful reproduction of audio signals.

Metal Layer Noise-Dissipation

Achieving complete shield coverage is a straightforward task. To prevent radio-frequency interference (RFI) from affecting the ground reference of the equipment, Audio Quest's Noise-Dissipation is necessary. Conventional shield systems usually absorb and discharge noise/RF energy to the component ground, modulating and distorting the critical "reference" ground plane, which in turn causes a distortion of the signal. However, with Noise-Dissipation, the shielding process goes a step further by absorbing and reflecting the majority of this energy before it reaches the layer attached to the ground.

Foil + Silver-Plated Braid Sheild

A layer of insulation (containing electrical energy) that is wrapped around an electrical cable to prevent the cable from emitting or absorbing EMI/RFI.

Solid 0.5% silver conductors for improving analogue performance

Solid conductors eliminate inter-strand distortion, one of the biggest sources of distortion in cables.

Cold-Welded, Gold-Plated Terminations

The design of this plug enables a solder-free connection, eliminating a common cause of distortion. Instead of solder, a high-pressure technique is used in the process. By using stamped ground shells instead of machined ones, the metal used can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability.

Hard-Cell Foam Installation

Hard-Cell Foam Insulation (HCF) guarantees precise signal-pair arrangement, ensuring optimal circuitry. When a conductor is in proximity to a solid material, it becomes part of an imperfect circuit, where energy absorption occurs in wire insulation and circuit board materials. This absorbed energy is subsequently released as distortion. Our Hard-Cell Foam Insulation shares similarities with Foamed-PE, which is utilized in our more cost-effective Bridges & Falls cables. To create air pockets, the insulation is injected with nitrogen. As nitrogen, like air, doesn't absorb or release energy into the conductor, distortion is significantly minimized. Moreover, the material's stiffness enables the cable's conductors to maintain a consistent relationship throughout the cable's entire length, resulting in a stable impedance profile and further reducing distortion.
