What We Know So Far About Samsung’s S90H OLED TV

Every year, there’s usually one OLED TV that ends up being the smart choice. Not the flashiest. Not the most expensive. But the one that makes the most sense for most people.

For 2026, the Samsung S90H could be that TV, although one of its biggest changes is already proving fairly controversial.

Revealed alongside Samsung’s flagship OLEDs, the S90H replaces last year’s excellent S90F, a five-star TV in its own right. At first glance, the S90H builds on that solid foundation with higher brightness and new display tech trickling down from Samsung’s premium models. But the most interesting update this year isn’t brightness at all. It’s the screen itself.

Samsung S90H: A Modest Brightness Boost

Samsung is claiming around a 15% increase in brightness over last year’s S90F.

That’s a welcome upgrade and it should help the S90H hold its own in brighter rooms, but in reality, brightness isn’t what makes this TV interesting. The S90F was already a strong performer and this modest bump alone wouldn’t be enough to justify a new model.

The real talking point for 2026 is something far more divisive...

Glare-Free OLED Comes to the S90 Series

The big news this year is that for the first time, Samsung is bringing its Glare-Free anti-reflection technology to the S90 series.

Until now, this matte-style coating has been reserved for Samsung’s flagship OLEDs. It first appeared on the S95D in 2024, split opinion immediately and continued to divide users on the S95F in 2025. Some loved how effectively it killed reflections, especially in bright rooms. Others have worried about what a matte finish might do to contrast, perceived black levels and that classic glossy OLED look.

Now, Samsung is doubling down and bringing Glare-Free to a more affordable OLED like the S90H.

At first glance, it's definitely a decision that makes sense. Reflection handling is one of the biggest real-world issues with OLED TVs, especially outside of perfectly dark home cinema rooms. But it’s also a risky move.

From what we know so far, Samsung says the Glare-Free tech has been refined again for 2026 and early impressions suggest it has been improved. But this is absolutely one of those features that needs proper, real-world testing before we can call it a win.

If Samsung has nailed it, the S90H could become one of the best mid-range OLEDs you can buy for a bright living space. If not, it leaves the door open for rivals trying to improve reflection handling without abandoning a glossy screen altogether.

The Big Unknown: What Panel Does the S90H Use?

Another big question hanging over the S90H this year is the panel type.

Samsung still hasn’t confirmed which screen sizes will use QD-OLED and which may fall back to WOLED  and based on past experience, they probably won’t. For the last couple of years, Samsung has moved away from clearly stating panel types on its mid-range OLEDs.

We’ve asked before and the response has always been:

So for now, we’re treating this as size-dependent and region-dependent and we’ll confirm it properly once we get the TV into the studio. It’s not ideal, but it’s not new either.

How Does the S90H Fit Into Samsung’s 2026 OLED Lineup?

This is where the S90H gets really interesting. Once we get hands-on, the key questions for us will be:

  • How much of an upgrade is the S90H over last year’s S90F?
  • How close does it get to the flagship Samsung S95H?
  • And how does it stack up against rivals like LG’s C6, which also has some intriguing upgrades this year?

Both the S90H and LG C6 sit firmly in that mid-range OLED sweet spot, offering impressive picture quality without flagship pricing. With Samsung pushing Glare-Free and LG sticking with a glossy approach, this could turn into one of the most interesting OLED battles of 2026.

Team Matte or Team Glossy? We’re genuinely on the fence and we can’t wait to test both side by side!

Early Verdict: Who Is the Samsung S90H Right For?

Based on what we know so far, the Samsung S90H is shaping up to be the sensible, well-balanced OLED choice for 2026.

It’s not trying to out-flagship the S95H and it’s not chasing headline-grabbing specs for the sake of it. Instead, Samsung seems focused on refining real-world usability (especially in brighter rooms) while keeping performance high and pricing relatively affordable.

Whether that gamble pays off will come down to how well the Glare-Free OLED panel performs in everyday viewing.

We’ll be bringing the Samsung S90H into our Cheltenham store as soon as possible for hands-on testing, side-by-side comparisons and in-store demos. In the meantime, we’ll keep this page updated with the latest news as we learn more.
