JBL Expands Its Lineup with Grip, Boombox 4 and PartyBox 720

IFA 2025 might have dominated the headlines with new TVs and smart home gear, but JBL had its own plans.

Over the same weekend, the audio giant rolled out three brand-new Bluetooth speakers... each one tackling a different slice of the market.

The all-new JBL Grip is a compact, can-sized speaker built for everyday adventures. The JBL Boombox 4 is a beefed-up update to one of JBL’s most popular portables. And the JBL PartyBox 720? Well, that’s an 800-watt party speaker built for the big occasions.

Here’s everything you need to know...

JBL Grip: The New Middle Ground

JBL has just added a fresh face to its portable speaker lineup, the JBL Grip. Coming in at $99.99 (UK pricing TBC), it slots neatly between the ultra-compact Clip 5 and the ever-popular Flip 7 in the JBL lineup, giving listeners a completely new option that’s both rugged and affordable.

Shaped like a drinks can, the Grip is small enough to carry in one hand or clip to a bag, but delivers 16W of JBL Pro Sound.

  • Price: £TBC
  • Launch Date: September 28, 2025
  • Battery: Up to 12 hours, with an extra 2 hours available via Playtime Boost
  • Durability: IP68 waterproof, dustproof and drop-proof

Features We Love:

  • AI Sound Boost for deeper bass without distortion
  • Customisable ambient light panel via the JBL Portable app
  • Auracast™ for stereo or multi-speaker pairing
  • Built using recycled plastics and FSC-certified packaging

Available in seven colours, from classic black and white to bold purple, camo and pink, it’s built to match your style whether you’re in the park, the garden or heading to a festival.

JBL Boombox 4: A Bigger, Smarter Upgrade

The Boombox has always been JBL’s answer to “how big can a portable speaker really get?” and the new Boombox 4 takes things further.

Lighter than the Boombox 3 but delivering up to 50% more power when used on battery, it’s designed to be the ultimate outdoor party speaker that still feels portable enough to carry.

  • Price: £TBC
  • Launch: September 28, 2025
  • Playtime: Up to 34 hours, with optional replaceable battery packs for even longer sessions
  • Durability: IP68 waterproof and dustproof
  • Audio: Dual tweeters, woofers and a passive radiator for extra depth and clarity
  • Connectivity: USB-C input with lossless audio playback

Features We Love:

  • AI Sound Boost for more powerful, distortion-free sound
  • Two levels of bass boost for when you want that extra thump
  • User replaceable battery system so you’re not tied to one charge cycle

JBL PartyBox 720: The Big One

Finally, the PartyBox 720 lands as one of JBL’s most powerful battery-powered party speaker yet, delivering a massive 800W RMS output. With dual 9-inch woofers and dome tweeters, it sits just below the impressive PartyBox Ultimate offering a slightly smaller but still hugely powerful option for anyone who doesn’t need the very top of the range.

  • Price: £TBC
  • Launch: September 21, 2025
  • Playtime: Up to 15 hours, plus 2 extra hours from just 10 minutes of fast charging
  • Power: Ships with dual replaceable batteries so you can swap and keep the party going
  • Durability: IPX4 splash resistant
  • Connectivity: USB-C, combo jack/XLR, and dual XLR inputs for mics, guitars or DJ consoles

Features We Love:

  • Next-gen dynamic lightshow, switching between starry and strobe effects
  • Full sound and light customisation in the JBL PartyBox app
  • Wider, sturdier wheels and a redesigned ergonomic handle for transport
  • Auracast™ for stereo pairing or linking with other JBL speakers

Our Verdict

With the GripBoombox 4 and PartyBox 720, JBL has made it clear they’re not standing still. Each speaker plugs a different gap in the lineup, giving listeners more choice whether they want something truly portable, something powerful for outdoors, or an all-out party system.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on UK pricing and availability, and we can’t wait to test them hands-on to see if they live up to the promise.
